Interview with Exalta Founder Ashutosh Verma

Exalta-Founder-Ashutosh-VermaIs the renewable industry profitable in India? How do you work from the business point of view?

With the changing times, the needs of people are also changing. One of the primary reasons for these changes is people’s understanding and awareness of various things. Preservation of the environment has become a big goal for the consumers besides using the quality of products, and we attempt to help the consumers attain these goals. In many houses, people have started using solar panels instead of electric boards because the electricity expenses decrease and one can save a lot of energy. It makes sure that it is pollution-free as no greenhouse gas is emitted. Significant foreign investments are possible in the renewable industry due to increasing awareness amongst the masses and lower costs at a short development period. Also, this widely growing industry poses no threat of fuel.

Solar products are expensive; however, they are low maintenance, which means less maintenance cost. Of course, they are pretty much easier to use and better for the environment. Therefore, people tend to buy solar products, regardless of their high costs.

What are the innovations happening on your end? When will the world see it?

We feel that a company survives on innovation and invention ideas. If you are innovative and have ideas that can bring a suitable and sustainable change in society, you can achieve a more significant market share.

We are bringing solar appliances that are accessible on the phone for the coming times – just like any mobile app. For example, you don’t need to turn on the inverter when the electricity goes, and you can press that one button on your mobile phone application to switch on your inverter.

There will be few fossil fuels left in the coming years, and people have to compulsorily shift to the renewable industry. We will get so many opportunities and make sure the channels increase to provide our products to every corner of the world. In a short span, we will change the dynamics of solar use in the country by introducing many unique products.

Which is your best-selling product, and how is the competition for this product in the market?

The best-selling product that we have is the off-grid inverter. As an advanced inverter level for both urban and rural locations, the Magic Box Smart Inverter has emerged as a breakthrough idea for power outages and blackouts. The final product was produced after numerous cycles of testing and improving the fundamental concept. The inverter is 94 percent more efficient than market transformer-based existing inverters, and it requires no additional equipment to maintain other than a single mobile App. You may also obtain all the information about power, volt, and ampere reports on your mobile device if you like.

The battery life of the inverter is 15 years, and the warranty is changeable for five years. This sleek and modern-looking inverter may also function as an EV charging station. This gadget, built in India, is portable and light on your wallet. In rural India, the magical inverter overcomes a power outage problem. The government’s backing for start-ups and similar inventions helps our firm expand and produce more new goods that benefit the general public.

What are the unavoidable challenges you face in the solar industry, and how do you cope?

The challenge faced in the industry is finding a better material to make solar panels. The traditional silicone-based panels can lead to higher costs and lower efficiency. Apart from that, improving the storage and transmission is necessary. Political pressure and government policies also act as a challenge. And besides that, age-old infrastructure is also a challenge. The initial cost is also high, the sun is also not always present, and they use a more considerable amount of space, and getting the right amount of investment is also tricky.

We are trying to produce the batteries for the off-grid appliances with higher battery storage so that it is not always necessary to have sun or to charge the batteries again and again. Besides that, we are trying to make the appliances compact so that the space is not utilized much, thus making it fit all types of infrastructure, from old to new. We are currently trying to find an alternative for the silicone to make devices at a lower cost rate and sell them at a lower price so that everyone can purchase them from rural to urban areas.

What makes you different from all the big names in the solar industry?

We vary from the general market of solar brands as we have a unique product line in this category. We have original ideas and cutting-edge technologies to make products other than solar panels like other companies are doing. With the introduction of Make in India, most production and manufacturing are taking place in India. We support this indigenization initiative and believe that less dependency on other nations results in greater job possibilities, increased innovation, and economic progress.

Our primary goal is to create consumer-driven, long-lasting products. We do this to reduce our customers’ reliance on us at all times. We see a solar India with power in every nook and cranny. We have all recycling items, and our carbon emissions are low to help the environment. We are attempting to create energy-saving items through this project. We have started such inverters where you can change all the settings through one mobile phone application and even let you know the power and mode, thus making us different from the other big names.

What do you think is the predictable future of the solar consumable industry in India, and how will Exalta contribute to this journey?

The market for solar products is expanding day by day. A decade ago, we were dependent on Italy and Germany to manufacture such products. However, now India has independent solar players dealing with everything by themselves. For example, we make our products and provide direct customer services.

In the time to come, we think things will improve even more. The cost will reduce, the options will increase, and we all will contribute to greener India and better solar services in the market.

We would contribute to this growth via our constant innovation in the solar consumer electronics market. Our inventions are solar air conditioners, freezers, deep freezers, and even compressors, and all of them are less power-consuming products.
