Fashion Meets Technology: Sustainable Fashion Trends with Columbia Sportswear ECO(friendly) Jacket
Rain jackets, traditionally offer a layer which is waterproof, porous and surrounded by layers of fabric. The most common compound employed in these jackets is called Gore-Tex, that comprises of polytetrafluoroethylene (PFCs), which is very hazardous for the environment.
Columbia Sportswear, a leader in adventure sportswear gear conducted a product life cycle assessment study basis which the brand designed the Outdry Ex Eco Shell Tech Jacket. Since, PFCs are used as water repellant finish for the textiles, the idea behind this jacket is to remove the layer of textile and get rid of the factory application of DWR treatments.
