Luminox Watch creates a special ICE-SAR Arctic 1000 Series
Luminox watches are designed and produced to go where few people would think of taking a high-quality timepiece. The Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue (ICE-SAR) goes to just these places in their appointed duties. Celebrating its 90th year this year, ICE-SAR has named Luminox as its official partner.

To celebrate and commemorate this partnership, Luminox has created a special ICE-SAR Arctic 1000 Series, which is made up of five models, with one being a special limited edition.
All the ICE-SAR Arctic 1000 series use a 46mm Carbonox case. Exclusive to Luminox, Carbonox is an extremely tough and durable carbon-based material. Much lighter than steel, hypoallergenic and extremely durable and resistant.
These timepieces all feature scratch-resistant sapphire crystals, are powered by a Swiss Made quartz movement from Ronda and all are water resistant to 200 meters. Features include date, with a sweep second hand.
In addition, all the watches are equipped with the Luminox Lighting Technology (LLT), which guarantees ultimate night vision to ICE-SAR teams 24 hours a day for up to 25 years through their use of tritium tubes.
The logo of ICE-SAR, with its four circle-section elements, inspired the shape of the bezels of the collection, and the hands are shaped to resemble the carabiners that the rescuers use on every mission. The hard-sandblasted dial calls to mind the lava fields that cover 30% of Iceland, and on the blue and black/red models, the number 12 is replaced with 112, the emergency number in many countries of Europe and USA.
The ICE-SAR Arctic 1000 Series is made up of a four dial versions: a black dial, a black dial with red accents, a blue dial and a white dial.
The limited edition, limited to 900 pieces worldwide, uses the blue and red color scheme of ICE-SAR, and all the watches are individually numbered on the caseback, next to the ICE-SAR logo. In addition, at nine o’clock, the index is replaced with “90 years” and the ICE-SAR logo is placed at six o’clock, and on this model 112 replaces the number twelve.
Straps on all the models are genuine rubber with textile top insert and include a Carbonox signature buckle.
The professional teams of the ICE-SAR are trained to go anywhere on Iceland, known as “the Land of Fire and Ice.” And on Iceland, that really means what it says – rescuers routinely answer calls during avalanches, shipwrecks, storms, eruptions, earthquakes, sub-zero winters and much more. Also remember, during the winter, daylight is minimized to only a few short hours, while in the summertime, there is near 24-hours of sunlight.
These teams need a watch they can depend upon, that will endure the hardships they have to, and keep on doing its job. They need a watch they can see in the dead of a long winter’s night, and one that won’t quit after the first shock or submersion in water.
Luminox is proud to be working with the ICE-SAR, a historic Search and Rescue operation, and to be equipping them with ICE-SAR Arctic 1000 series watches.
