NIIT University Expands Global and Industry Exposure in Cybersecurity Education

Strengthening its focus on global exposure and industry-integrated learning for students, NIIT University (NU) has signed two strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing international academic engagement and industry readiness. The university has entered into an academic partnership with the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, to expand global learning and mobility opportunities, and an industry collaboration with Checkmarx, a global leader in application security, to strengthen hands-on cybersecurity education and real-world skill development for learners.

The collaboration with Checkmarx aims to empower NU students with cutting-edge cybersecurity knowledge and hands-on industry exposure, preparing them to address the growing challenges of application security in an increasingly digital and interconnected world. As part of the partnership, NU and Checkmarx will work closely on establishing a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Cybersecurity, introducing Industry Practice (IP) modules and additive curriculum, and enabling joint capability development and knowledge exchange.

In addition, NIIT University’s academic partnership with the University of Canterbury will strengthen NU’s global engagement and international learning ecosystem. The collaboration will focus on student exchange programmes, international workshops, and collaborative learning initiatives, offering NU students exposure to global academic perspectives, business practices, world class instructors and leadership development. The partnership will also enable pathways aligned with post-study work opportunities, supporting students aspiring to pursue international education and global career experiences.

Remarking on the partnerships, Prof. Prakash Gopalan, President, NIIT University, said: “At NIIT University, our priority is to equip students with the capabilities required to succeed in an increasingly global and technology-driven world. Our collaboration with Checkmarx brings industry-relevant cybersecurity expertise directly into the learning ecosystem, enabling students to gain practical exposure to real-world security challenges”.

“Simultaneously, our academic partnership with the University of Canterbury significantly strengthens international learning and global mobility opportunities for our students. Together, these MoUs reflect our commitment to delivering a holistic education that seamlessly integrates international learnings with strong industry relevance”, he further added.

These MoUs aim to bridge the academia–industry gap and provide NU students with practical, globally relevant learning opportunities. By integrating industry expertise and international experience into its academic framework, NIIT University continues to strengthen career pathways and enhance employability in high-demand domains such as cybersecurity and application security.
