Uber partners with Indian Oil Corporation Limited to offer discounts on fuel for driver partners

Uber marked another milestone by announcing a partnership with India’s largest commercial oil company, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), for offering special benefits to thousands of driver partners across India. The partnership is Uber’s latest initiative under the Uber Care umbrella. More than 12,000 driver partners have already registered for this benefit.

The agreement with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), will offer delivery partners discounts on petrol, diesel and CNG in IOCL petrol pumps across India. This initiative is a part of Uber’s UberCARE program which is a first-of-its-kind comprehensive platform for driver partners, giving them access to life and health insurance, micro loans and other benefits. The association with IOCL reaffirms Uber’s commitment towards its driver partner community.

Shri Vigyan Kumar, Exec. Director (Retail Sales), said “Indian Oil has been always striving to add to the fuelling experience of customers coming to its Retail Outlet and through our association with UBER we would be giving one more reason for a UBER driver partner to fuel with us and also earn IndianOil’s XTRAREWARD loyalty points for free fuelling.

Commenting on the landmark partnership, Prabhjeet Singh, Head of Cities, Uber India and South Asia said, “Driver partners are at the heart of what we do and we want to give them the best possible driving experience on our platform. Uber CARE was launched as a first-of-its-kind comprehensive platform, to facilitate access to programs and partnerships that would give driver partners and their families more financial security and stability. This unique partnership is targeted at easing the cost of fuel and giving back to driver partners who use the Uber App to earn a livelihood.”

Over the past few months, Uber has launched several initiatives and forged some high-profile partnerships to showcase its commitment towards its driver partners. In January, Uber launched the Driver Safety Toolkit, a comprehensive set of in-app safety features. More recently, it partnered with Ayushman Bharat, the world’s largest government-run healthcare scheme, to facilitate free hospitalization care worth Rs 500, 000 each for driver partners and their families every year under the UberCARE program.
