MakeMyTrip launches ‘Door-to-Door’ baggage transfer service for its customers

Lugging your baggage around as you take care of safety precautions while travelling during the pandemic can often become a stressful exercise. In a bid to make flying safe, convenient and hassle-free, MakeMyTrip has launched a ‘door-to-door’ baggage transfer service for its customers. The new offering allows travellers to book an end-to-end baggage transfer service from the departing address to the destination address. While the service has been designed and developed with an aim to make baggage handling easy for all travellers, it is especially targeted at customers who may check-in with bulk luggage or need assistance otherwise at the airport –for instance, people moving cities, senior citizens among others.

Launched in partnership with Avaan Excess, the baggage transfer service allows people to choose the delivery period by opting for a Premium package (delivery within 72 hours) or a Surface package (delivery between four to seven days) at an introductory price starting INR 699 onwards, depending on the weight of the luggage. Additionally, as part of the service, travellers will be able to insure their baggage against loss at no additional fee. Currently, available in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata, Goa, Kochi, Varanasi, Bhubaneshwar, Ranchi, Patna and Ahmedabad –the company plans to roll out the service in other cities in the coming months.

As safety and physical distancing at public spaces remains a concern, we are hoping to solve one of the biggest concerns of flyers that is waiting in queues for baggage check-in and pick-up –further helping them save time at airports. We are confident that with the new offering, we will be able to take the end-to-end flying experience to superior levels.”

Available on the MakeMyTrip website and app, the offering is integrated within the flights funnel –allowing customers to opt for the baggage transfer service while booking air tickets for an upcoming travel.

Recently, the company launched the ‘Price Lock’ feature to allow its customers to lock airfares for one, three or seven days –providing more time and guaranteeing price hike protection as customers take a final call on scheduling their travel. Available at a nominal fee, the price later gets adjusted into the full price of the air ticket at the time of the final purchase.
