Hon’ble Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman to chair North-East Roundtable on Prime Minister Internship Scheme in Shillong, Meghalaya

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, in collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya, is set to organise the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) North-East Roundtable on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Shillong Meghalaya. The event will be chaired by Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister, Government of India, and will be graced by Shri Conrad K. Sangma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya.

The roundtable aims to bring together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors to deliberate on the implementation and scaling of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme. The event will also comprise of interactions with current PMIS interns from North East States and explore how the scheme can further align with the needs and aspirations of the region’s youth.  As a prelude to the roundtable, Hon’ble Minister and Hon’ble Chief Minister will tour the PMIS Exhibition set up at the venue. The event features exhibition booths set up by participating companies and success stories of PMIS interns from various North-Eastern states.

The North-East Roundtable will feature keynote addresses and remarks from dignitaries including Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister and Shri Conrad K. Sangma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya.

The event is expected to witness participation from industry leaders, state government representatives, and interns from across the North-East. It underscores the government’s continued commitment to ensuring inclusive skilling and workforce readiness for India’s youth, especially in aspirational and underserved geographies.
